Average Rents Drop as Rental Incentives Rise

Average asking rents in Canada fell 4.7% year-over-year in May, marking the 20th straight month of annual declines. While rents remain high, many markets are becoming more affordable, with some suburban areas around Toronto and Vancouver seeing double-digit drops.

At the same time, more landlords are offering incentives such as free rent, cash bonuses, and included parking to attract tenants as vacancy rates rise.
