Your Immigration Update

Ontario Is Building a New “Talent Stream” pathway for PR. On November 25, 2025, during the third-reading debate on Bill 30, the Working for Workers Seven Act, 2025, Ontario Immigration Minister David Piccini said Ontario will introduce “new streams soon,” including a new “Talent Stream.”

Canada’s Immigration Minister made a rare public appearance this morning, to announce funding for four programs designed to help French speakers immigrating to Canada.

The marketplace for immigration advice in Canada is noisy, and the consequences for getting it wrong can be absolutely dire. That’s why it’s so important to understand a little more about immigration consulting in Canada. And we’re here to help — with our analysis of the recent Annual Report from the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants. We walk through how you can check your consultant’s qualifications and the questions you should ask before you pay.

And if you live outside Canada and you’re receiving advice from someone who claims to be a qualified immigration consultant, consider this essential reading. There are very few RCIC’s outside Canada. So it’s essential to vet anyone’s credentials before you pay them and place your future in Canada in their hands.

Immigration In The Media

Canada’s international-student sector says the latest IRCC cap cut won’t shift things much in practice. As The PIE News reports, IRCC is targeting 408,000 study permits in 2026 (about 155,000 new permits plus 253,000 extensions), a 7% drop year over year, but Canada already missed recent targets, so institutions are effectively operating under lower volumes already.

The PIE’s coverage also highlights that approval rates and processing delays remain the real bottleneck. With non-exempt approval rates sitting around the mid-30% range this year, stakeholders doubt IRCC can reach even the reduced cap without meaningful improvements in Canada’s international education system.

Did Someone Say Draw

ICYMI: Wednesday’s Express Entry draw saw 1,000 CEC candidates invited, with a CRS cut-off of 531.

Money Matters: A Simple Way to Calm Money Stress

Sometimes money stress shows up even when, technically, you’re doing okay. You might look at your account balance, see the bills are paid, and still feel that little knot in your stomach telling you that you’re behind. Experts say that’s often old fear talking, not your current reality, especially for newcomers juggling new expenses and old money fears. So when the anxiety starts creeping in, pause for a second and check the actual numbers right in front of you. It’s surprising how often the facts are calmer than the feeling.

If the essentials are covered, remind yourself of that before you cut something meaningful or make a rushed financial decision. It’s a small habit, but separating feelings from facts can help you stay steady and spend with intention instead of stress. And honestly, it’s one of the easiest ways to build financial confidence without changing anything but your perspective.

Career Moves: Holiday Hiring

Holiday hiring is finally showing a little life again. Indeed says seasonal job postings are up 12% compared to last year, which is the first bump we’ve seen in a while. It’s still not a booming market, but it’s enough to give job seekers a window, especially if you want quick experience or extra income before the new year.

If you’re looking for work, use this moment to your advantage. Seasonal roles in retail, customer service, and logistics often hire fast, and they’re a great way to get Canadian experience or build connections that can lead to permanent work. Apply early, tailor your resume to customer-facing tasks, and be ready for short interviews. Even temporary roles can open doors, and this small rebound gives you a better shot than last year.

Today's Tip: Happy Thanksgiving to everyone celebrating today in the U.S.!

If you’re new to North America, don’t let “Thanksgiving” dates catch you off guard. The U.S. and Canada celebrate on different days every year. In the United States, Thanksgiving is always on the fourth Thursday in November, so it lands late in the year and is a big travel weekend. In Canada, Thanksgiving comes earlier, on the second Monday in October. That means Canadian Thanksgiving is already over by the time U.S. Thanksgiving rolls around.
